Pricing Carbon 2021-2022: Your Portfolio and the Clean Energy Transition
September 21, 2021, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

In July, prices in the world’s largest carbon allowance market, the European Union Emissions Trading System (EUA), reached a new record high of €58/ton or $68/ton*. The California Cap and Trade (CCA) and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) followed suit notching new records of $18.80 and $7.97, respectively, during the most recent auctions.

With prices at this level, especially in Europe, switching to greener technologies is becoming more economically feasible. However, as we enter a new paradigm where emissions-heavy energy sources are no longer as financially attractive as cleaner ones, many investors wonder where carbon prices can go from here.

Join Luke Oliver, Head of Strategy at KraneShares and Eron Bloomgarden, Co-Founder at Climate Finance Partners (CLIFI) for a discussion covering:

  • Carbon market dynamics from the clean energy transition
  • Potential catalysts driving carbon market prices higher
  • New markets coming online and their implications for the global price of carbon.
  • The case for exposure to global carbon allowances and how they can potentially benefit an investor’s portfolio.
