When: Tuesday, July 28th, 2020
11:00 am - 12:00 pm est

The global COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the dispersion between Emerging Market (EM) growth and EM value sectors, leaving many investors overexposed to the worst-performing parts of EM. Meanwhile, starting in June, China’s Mainland A-share equity market entered a formidable bull market, rising with a speed and intensity that caught many investors off guard.

We believe US investor home country bias has kept the most attractive parts of EM out of sight and out of mind for too long and that traditional broad-based Emerging Market indexes fail to capture the parts that are working. In the wake of the recent strong performance of both EM growth stocks and mainland Chinese A-shares, many investors feel like they missed the boat. In our view, it is not about whether or not you missed the boat; it is about being on the right boat in the first place! We believe that investors who treat Emerging market growth and China A-share allocations as tactical trades may be missing out on the performance and diversification benefits of holding these markets as long-term strategic allocations.

Join KraneShares investment professionals Brendan Ahern and Dr. Xiaolin Chen as they explore:

  • Why we believe traditional emerging market benchmarks are broken and potential alternatives
  • China is not a trade: China equity market characteristics that support holding it as a core portfolio allocation
  • Does the China bull have legs? Potential catalysts that could drive China’s mainland A-shares higher in the second half (2H) of 2020
  • Why EM investors are only now realizing that internet companies are significant beneficiaries of the post-COVID world
