Photonics: The Next Big AI Investment Opportunity?
Derek Yan, Senior Investment Strategist at KraneShares, recently joined the ETF Spotlight podcast with Neena Mishra to make the case for why he believes photonics is one of the most overlooked bottlenecks in the AI buildout, explaining that as AI clusters scale to millions of accelerators, copper connections simply can't keep up, and light-based solutions could become essential.
Derek highlighted LUMA, KraneShares' Photonic and Optical ETF, as a differentiated pure-play on the opportunity, noting its focus on the entire photonic value chain, from specialty materials and engineered wafers to transceivers and networking switches. He also referenced industry forecasts, including a Goldman Sachs estimate that the networking market could grow ninefold to $150 billion by 2028.1
He also touched on AGIX, KraneShares' public-private AI ETF, and KOID, KraneShares' global humanoid robotics ETF.
