KraneShares To Extend Outcome Period For Buffer Strategies KPRO & KBUF On Strong China Internet Sector Momentum
New York, NY – January 14, 2025 – Today, Krane Funds Advisors, LLC (“KraneShares”), an asset management firm known for its global exchange-traded funds (ETFs) announced plans to adjust the outcome period for its buffer strategies the KraneShares 100% KWEB Defined Outcome January 2026 ETF (Ticker: KPRO) and the KraneShares 90% KWEB Defined Outcome January 2026 ETF (Ticker: KBUF) due to strong results in the underlying KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (Ticker: KWEB) since the inception of the buffer ETFs.
These ETFs are designed to provide investors with the opportunity over a limited period (the “Outcome Period”) to benefit up to a certain extent (the “Cap”) from increases in the total return of the KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (“Underlying ETF”) with a defined level of protection (the “Buffer”). The current Outcome Period for the Funds is from February 8, 2024, to January 16, 2026.
Since the Funds launched on February 7, 2024, and through December 31, 2024, KWEB has delivered a total return of 24.37%, exceeding the Cap for KPRO.
The performance data quoted represents past performance. Past performance does not guarantee future results. The investment return and principal value of an investment will fluctuate so that an investor’s shares, when redeemed or sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost. “KWEB has exceeded performance expectations since the KPRO and KBUF were launched in February 2024,” said Jonathan Shelon, KraneShares COO. “We believe that resetting the downside protection and increasing the upside potential by extending the outcome period, is a benefit to existing and new investors. We are extremely pleased with the results of these strategies and are excited to introduce these enhancements.”
KPRO and KBUF are expected to reset their current Outcome Period and extend it by another year. This is expected to occur on or about January 24, 2025. As a result, KPRO and KBUF will commence a new Outcome Period over the period from on or about January 24, 2025, to January 22, 2027, establishing a new Cap and Buffer that begins on that date.
The exact amount of the new performance Caps will not be known until that date. For reference, the current Caps for the existing Outcome Period are 22.69% and 41.20% for KPRO and KBUF, respectively. The Funds will retain the same buffers of 100% and 90%, respectively, based on KWEB’s price on or near January 24, 2025.
KPRO and KBUF have characteristics unlike many other traditional investment products and may not be suitable for all investors. The caps and buffers mentioned above do not reflect the effect of fees and assume the Funds are held from launch to the end of the outcome period (2 years).
